Mary Helen Scarnuley

Mary Helen Scarnuley, 64, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a two-year battle with cancer. Born on January 23, 1955 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Florence and William Scarnuley, Sr.

Mary Helen graduated from Bassick High School and then attended Housatonic Community College. She loved animals, birds and nature.She enjoyed dinners and parties with her family. She was especially fond of ethnic food. Throughout her illness, you could always cheer her up with her favorite beverage-iced coffee.  Mary Helen loved to spend time with her sister Terry, taking care of her animals and watching Turner Classic Movies. She always made sure she knew and remembered everyone’s name so she could greet them properly.

She is survived by her siblings, Marilyn Tarantino of Georgia, Veronica Emilio and her husband Sal of Huntington, William Scarnuley and his wife  Nilsa of Trumbull, Catherine Scarnuley-Rado and her husband Paul of Fairfield, Theresa Scarnuley of Bridgeport, James Scarnuley of Danbury, Victoria Scarnuley Grasso and her husband Matt of Trumbull, Ann Marie Casey and her husband Michael of Bridgeport, Harry Wiemert and his wife Linda of Texas and several nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the staff at Ludlowe Rehab Center in Fairfield, Dr Fischbach and the staff at Smilow Cancer Center in Trumbull, the Staff on West  Tower 7 and Dr. Ali at Bridgeport Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Black Rock Church, 3685 Black Rock Tpk., Fairfield, CT 06432. Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. to 10 am. at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stratford Cat Project at http://stratfordcatproject.org/  or Smilow Cancer Center in Trumbull.
