Mary Beth Hanson

Mary Beth Hanson passed away on June 10, 2022 after admission at Bridgeport Hospital.  She was predeceased by her parents John Husosky and Mary Husosky (nee Preston) and her beloved husband Mark R. Hanson, whom she married in 1982.  Beth shared and supported Mark’s interests in hunting, fishing and boating throughout their lives.  The trip of their lifetime was their honeymoon to Yellowstone National Park.

Beth was always looking to do for others.  Beth graduated from St Vincent’s school of nursing and was a nurse for many years. She ended her career as a hospice nurse which was her most rewarding work.  Beth had many other passions such as cooking, photography, gardening, and her dogs.  These interests she shared with her many friends and neighbors.  As a photographer she became a cherished member of families whose lives she documented year after year through weddings, dance events and holidays.  She was quick to share gardening tips, give pet advice and, of course, Beth was the go-to for medical guidance. 

If nursing was her career, her dogs were just as much a part of her life.  She and Mark raised championship Chesapeake Bay retrievers for many years.  She attended dog shows, teamed up with breeders and cared for her puppies even after they were with new families.  Her network of friends was spread across the country.

Beth was proud, independent and generous and even after suffering with illness for sometime, she was averse to receiving handouts and would always “return the favor” when her friends would help her out.

Everyone who knew her will always remember and miss Beth.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, 168-172 S Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460.
