As a teenager he was very active in the Drum Corp (The Connecticut Classics), travelling the country with his sister Roberta in numerous parades and performances in the United States and Canada. He was a die-hard New York Yankees fan, and proud of his Irish Heritage. Mat was a hard worker as evidenced from his position of master machinist in the lighter division at BIC for 19 years, a job which he truly enjoyed. Mat was a proud member of the “The United Steelworkers of America Local 134L”. It was at BIC where Mat met his wife Anne, whom he would marry in 1986.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Healthcare Hospice, Touchpoints of Bloomfield, and Bridgeport Hospital for their care and compassion. In addition, the family would also like to thank Bridges of Milford for the years of support they provided to Mat and the family.
Mat was dearly loved and will be missed by his family, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, former BIC colleagues, and neighbors. He is now at rest with his parents and sister Roberta.
