Pascual G. Punsal, 76, of Orange, beloved husband of Irene Punsal, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 while in the company of his loving family. Born on May 17, 1941 in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, he emigrated west and became an American citizen during the early 1970’s.

Pascual proudly served our country in the United States Coast Guard. Before his honorable discharge after 20 years of active duty, he visited all 7 continents and traveled beyond the Arctic Circle. His next 25 years were spent at Sikorsky Aircraft as an avionics technician for the Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopter until his retirement in 2013. As a 35 year resident of Orange, Pascual was an active member of the community and sang in the choir for several years at Holy Infant Church. He was a long-standing member of the Philippine-American Association of Connecticut, and was dedicated to raising cultural awareness and celebrating his Filipino heritage. Pascual was a member of the PAAC choir and cultural dance troupe, he marched in countless parades, performed in festivals, and brought the spirit of Christmas to many homes during the holidays. He also took time to organize recreational camping trips for his friends and their families. Perhaps his greatest contribution to the community at large, was to inspire others to volunteer for the Special Olympics. He organized dozens of families in the PAAC, who contributed their weekends assisting athletes and sponsoring visiting teams. This legion of volunteers returned for many consecutive years during the 1990’s for both the Connecticut Games and Special Olympic World Games.

In addition to his beloved wife Irene, Pascual is survived by his two children, Paul Bryan and Mellisa; four siblings, Mercedes, Agatona, Lazaro and Rhene; daughters-in-law, Kayla and Dina; six grandchildren, Savannah, Lindsay, John Paul, Kellan, Luna Marie and Arsenio Joseph; and three step grandchildren, Blake, Brielle, and Brynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH) followed by Military Honors. Interment will be private. Friends and family may call on, Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
