Peter Dennis Mauritz

November 15, 1959 ~ June 4, 2021 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Tribute

Peter Dennis Mauritz, 61, of Milford, so beloved by his large and extended family and friends, died unexpectedly on June 4, 2021, with his Life Partner, Marie Diven, and children, Nick, Tim and Kaitlyn, by his side.

Born in Bridgeport on November 15, 1959, the son of Nancy (Haushill) and the late Richard Mauritz, he grew up in Trumbull and Fairfield, attending St. Catherine of Siena and Fairfield Preparatory Schools, where his love of sports fueled a football career playing both in high school and later at Bucknell University. A Defensive Tackle on Bucknell’s Football Team, he long held a top spot for career sacks, and graduated with his Civil Engineering Degree in 1981.

With 40 years of experience specializing in the design, construction and management of large-scale transportation-related projects, Peter’s efforts as a dedicated Senior Design and Senior Project Manager working at AECOM and later Parsons Corp. helped realize a number of significant projects in the U.S., as well as Puerto Rico, Canada and Africa. His work at the World Trade Center Station, a Santiago Calatrava design, is noted as one of his most challenging, spanning 2005 to 2012.

He was a devoted family man, coaching his own children to love sports and life as he did. He has been a staunch supporter of St. Mary’s Church, Board Member of The Deerfield Av. Improvement Assoc., the protection of the Long Island Sound which he loved and cherished, and many other charities.

In addition to his mother, Life Partner and children, he leaves his daughters-in-law, Alina and Hadley; grandchildren Nicholas and Theo, with two more on their way. Also, his siblings and in laws - Monique and John Jacobs, Nicole and Scott Daly, Donald and Deb and Michael and Kim Mauritz, C.J. and Anna Diven, 11 Godchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends who shared Peter’s love of life and all things Long Island Sound, and today mourn losing the immediate presence of his amazing and generous spirit.

Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD.
