Philomena Birch

Philomena Mary Baldino Birch entered into eternal rest at her home on July 9, 2022 with her children by her side. Philomena was born on April 14, 1942 in Bridgeport, and was the wife of the late John R. Birch, Sr. and the daughter of the late Pasquale and Jennie Baldino.

Philomena is survived by her children, John R. Birch, Jr. and his wife Jan of West Haven, Marie Brackett of Milford and Christopher Birch of Milford; grandchildren, John R. Birch, III, Michael John Brackett and Shaina Birch; grand-dog, Pierre; sisters-in-law, Ginny Baldino, Joyce Birch, and Janis Scharn; brother-in-law, Major Birch; her caregiver and cousin, Liz Wiliston; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Philomena was also predeceased by her sister, Jean Riccio and brother-in-law, Bob; and her brothers, Dominic Baldino, and Pasquale Baldino and sister-in-law, Ann Mary.

Philomena lost her battle with cancer but always had a positive outlook and enjoyed her last months with many visits from her nieces, cousins and friends. Philomena took pride in her home and enjoyed her yardwork and flowers, she loved to read and spend time with her family. Philomena was that second mom to everyone- she worked in the kitchen at Live Oaks School in Milford for many years and spread her cheerfulness to co-workers as well as students.

Friends and family may gather on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Saint Gabriel Church (Saint Raphael Parish) 26 Broadway, Milford, CT 06460. Interment will follow at Saint Michael Cemetery 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford, CT 06615.
