Renato (Ron) Francis Carboni Jr., age 82, of Vero Beach, Florida and Milford, Connecticut passed away on June 1, 2019 with his three children by his side after a short battle with cancer. Born August 6, 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut he was the son of Renato and Frances (Marchetti) Carboni.
Ron graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1954. He then worked for 5 years at Sikorsky Aircraft before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1959, specializing in linguistics. After being discharged he went back to work at Sikorsky as a Systems Analyst in 1963 until his retirement in 1996. In January 1962, he married Dolores (Powers) in Newark, New Jersey enjoying 52 years of marriage until her death in 2014.
In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather he also coached Milford International Little League and he loved running into kids he coached in later years. He was a proud member of the West Haven Italian American Civic Association, Milford Republican Town Committee, Hillhouse High School Class of 1954 Reunion Committee and he served many years on the Board of Directors at Sikorsky Credit Union.
He was also honored to be a blood donor, having donated 11 gallons of blood. Ron enjoyed his retirement years in both Milford and Vero Beach, spending time with friends, playing golf and softball, running the Vista Royale Computer Club and rooting for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. But wherever he was, Ron always enjoyed his favorite “ice packed” cocktail…especially when mastering his perfectly marinated London Broil recipe, which he would compliment himself on throughout the entire meal until you acknowledged how delicious it was…and it truly was!
Ron is survived by his 3 children: Renato Carboni III and his wife Melissa of Cheshire, Connecticut, Charles Carboni and his wife Andrea of Parker, Colorado and Elizabeth Melcher and her husband James of Watertown, Wisconsin, his loving grandchildren Kaitlyn, Marissa, Nicholas and Samantha Carboni and his granddog UConn. “Pops” was a great man who will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at both St Raphael and Yale New Haven hospitals for the amazing care he received.
