Richard Henry Barsczewski, Sr., 81, of Ansonia, beloved husband of Elene Schlayer Barsczewski, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 28, 2017. Richard was born in Scranton, PA on August 9, 1936, to the late Henry and Elizabeth Nowosielecka Barsczewski. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a brilliant, self-taught man who loved caring for his family. He enjoyed BMW motorcycles and the annual family camping trips to Vermont. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Sharon (Ronald) Barnabei, Richard (Tracey) Barsczewski, Jr., Bruce (Deanna) Barsczewski, Wendy (Lyndon) Washington; grandchildren, Elene and Christopher Barnabei, Brittany, Maya, Cole, Barbara, and Kristina Barsczewski, Jordan and Tyler Washington; siblings, Ronald (Linda) Barsczewski and Henry (Beverly) Barsczewski; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church, 32 Jewett St., Ansonia, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, 219 New Haven Ave., Derby, CT. Friends and family may call on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
