Richard J. Carey, Jr., 75, of Milford, beloved husband of 50 years to Antoinette (Crocco) Carey, passed away on September 4, 2023. Born on February 18, 1948 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Grace (DiBella) Carey, Sr.
In addition to his loving wife, Antoinette, Rick is survived by his children, Jennifer (Bryan) Weber and Rick (Tricia) Carey; his grandchildren, Grace Weber, Dante and Isabella Carey; his brother, Ronald Carey; his siblings-in-law, Anthony (Lee) Crocco, Jr., Brian (Elizabeth) Crocco, and Laurie Crocco; and his poodle, Bella. Rick was predeceased by his siblings, Marguerite Carey and Albert Carey.
Rick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Woodmont. He also volunteered as a firefighter with Milford Fire Department at Station 5. Rick was a former member of the Planning and Zoning Board and later of the Board of Appeals. He was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee and within the Borough of Woodmont, where he was on the Board of Burgesses.
Rick's storied career at United Technologies spanned 47 years before his retirement. During much of that time he can be found passing his knowledge to the students at Lincoln Tech.
Nothing was more important to Rick than his family. Extended family and friends filled the home during Christmas and New Years Eve. Vacations to Florida, Niagra Falls and Myrtle Beach were among the highlights. Summers were spent preparing fried dough at Doolittle Park for Woodmont Day and Fowler Field for the Oyster Festival. In Rick's later years he could always be found supporting his grandchildren at gymnastics, football, softball and bring a veteran to school day.
