Robert C. Bissell

Robert C. Bissell, of West Haven, CT, formerly of Milford, CT and Clinton CT, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was 73. Robert was the son of the late Kenneth Bissell and Annettia Bissell. He is survived by his brother, John Bissell and his wife Mary Pat Bissell of Milford, CT. It was in Milford that he met the love of his life, Kathi McDonnell-Bissell. They were married 36 years before her passing in May 2004.

Robert is survived by his three daughters, Amy Bissell-Burrell, her husband Alen Burrell, and their sons Conor and Brady of Westford, MA, Suzanne-Noel Wisniowski, her husband Joseph Wisniowski and their sons, Jackson, Jacob, William and Emmet of Doylestown, PA, Betsy-Alanna Bissell and her husband Mohammed Al-Ibrahim of West Haven, CT.

Robert graduated from Milford High School and went on to receive his Degree in Political Science at the University of New Haven and a Masters in Science from Southern Connecticut State University. He served in the Navy in Yokosuka, Japan as a Hospital Corpsman. He was an Urban Planner for the Government. He was a gentle soul who was universally loved and always had a smile on his face. He grew up sailing at the Milford Yacht Club and was a member of the CAR. He was an avid swimmer, loved playing tennis, gardening, and loved walking along the beach with his beloved dog. He was passionate about art, music, bird watching, politics, classic films, and keeping up with the daily news.

In lieu of memorial contributions, Robert’s family requested that his friends and family perform a random act of kindness in remembrance of him. He will be remembered through laughter, loving memories, and the joy of family.
