Robert Anthony Macchia

Robert Anthony Macchia, 79, of Fairfield, passed away on January 11, 2022. Born on September 1, 1942 in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Romano) Macchia. 

Bob was the longtime owner of Q-Gardens Patio & Garden Center in Milford, CT, founded by the Macchia family in 1928. Known as Pop-Pop by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he especially treasured spending time with his large family and his fur babies, poodles Mia and Lucy. Bob and his doggies retired from the family business and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He was a graduate of Amity High School in Woodbridge and a UConn alumni. He raised his family in Milford and Orange. Bob enjoyed fishing or a wooded trail, a lover of nature, he was always able to see the beauty in the scenery and was sure to make those who were with him see it too.

Robert is survived by his children, Theresa (Steven) Malone, Margaret (Ken Kraus) Macchia, Ann (Ken) Soucy, Robin (Andy) DiClemente, and Robert (Rebecca) Macchia; his step daughter Sandy (Bruce) Stern; his grandchildren, Alicia Neznek, Janice Rocher, Stephanie Kern, Delayne Kraus, Bonnie Williams, Nicolas Soucy, Kyle Soucy, Andrew DiClemente, Jared DiClemente, Nathaniel DiClemente, Maxwell Macchia, Sam Stern, Jordyn Valenti, Cody Sigetti, Dawson Sigetti, Lindsay Sigetti, Haileigh Sigetti and John Krupnik; his great grandchildren, Zoey, Kyrie, Novaleigh, Dylan and Colin. He also leaves his sister, Judi Vanacore; and Patricia Macchia, the mother of his children. Robert was predeceased by his grandson, Brad Meyers, and his long time partner, Virginia Gill.

Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
