Robert B. Mattson, 82, of Milford, beloved husband of Judith (Knoche) Mattson, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Bob was born on January 6, 1940 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Bror and Hanna (Svensson) Mattson.
Known to all as Bob he very proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Vulcan (AR-5) out of Norfolk, VA. Prior to retiring he was employed his entire life by Sikorsky’s in Stratford as a machine operator.
As a member of the Milford Elks, American Legion, Masons and Pyramid Shriners, he volunteered many hours and truly enjoyed spending time with his friends. Bob was the “go to” person whenever someone needed help doing something. He was a wonderful and loved Uncle to his niece and nephew and to his great niece and nephew. He was always there for them with a smile, a grin, and a helping hand if needed. Bob had a very hardy laugh and a big personality. He enjoyed his cars, watching the auto races, gardening and books and in earlier years camping with his wife and meeting up with friends. Some don’t know but many summers were spent cooking homemade sauce from tomatoes from his garden as well as delicious zucchini bread, which he always made enough to give to friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Judy, he leaves behind his nephew, Raymond Peterson, his niece Karen (James) Dalby and his great niece and nephew Kaitlyn and James Dalby, Jr.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Helen (Mattson) Peterson.
All services will be private. The family is being cared for by the staff at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
