Robert J. White, Sr.

Robert J. White, Sr., 81, of Milford, beloved husband of 58 years to Ruth Ann White, passed away on March 17, 2021. He was born on December 5, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter. Known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was a very family oriented man. He had a great sense of humor and was “the host with the most” who had the ability to feed an army. Robert cooked for Pop Warner Youth Football before the concession stand existed and volunteered to play the role of Santa for the Knights of Columbus for 30 years. He also worked for Carpenter Steel for over 20 years and was a volunteer firefighter for Company 3 in Milford.

Along with his wife, Robert leaves behind his son, William (Tabitha) White; grandchildren, Rebecca Lilley (Anthony Korkodilos) and Nicholas Kopes; great grandchildren, Cassidy, Connor, and Chelsey Davis; daughter-in-law, Lisa White; and many friends. He was predeceased by his children, Sindy White and Robert J. White, Jr.

Family and friends may pay their respects at a walk-through wake on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Family and friends may pay their respects again on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Due to gathering restrictions, only 50 people will be allowed inside at a time. Masks and social distancing will be required. A Private Family Funeral Service will be livestreamed at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. We invite you to join in Mr. White’s Last Ride, leaving from the funeral home at 11 a.m. and processing to Kings Highway Cemetery. However, due to covid restrictions, burial will be reserved for immediate family. Instead, after the procession, please join them at a gathering from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 124 New Haven Avenue, Milford, CT, to further cerebrate his life.
