Roger D. Ames

Roger D. Ames, Sr., 80, of Milford, beloved husband of Joyce M. (Penny) Ames, entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2022.  Born on November 6, 1940 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Albert Ames and Bertha (Raugh) Ames.    

Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran, and very active in his childrens’ lives, be that in church activities, school and scout groups, and their time in drum and bugle corps, when he would often leave with them for rehearsal early to transport multiple other corps members, as well as chaperoning the group on multi-state tours. He was also an avid hunter through the years, enjoyed tending to his garden, and was a voracious reader.

In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, Roger is survived by his son Roger, Jr., and his wife Dawn, of Seymour; his son Bryan and his wife Stephanie, of Northford; his daughter Dawn, of Milford; and Linda (Beers) Ames, of Milford; as well as three grandchildren, Dylan Ames of Milford, and Eden and Elora Ames, of Northford.

The family asks that you join them on Monday, July 11, between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to remember and celebrate Roger, at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford CT, where a memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
