Ronald Vincent Winfield, 83, of Milford, passed away at home on April 13, 2017 surrounded by family. He was husband of 56 years to the late Margueritte P. Himpel Winfield. Born February 19, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT, Ron was the son of the late Francis L. and Julia McQuillan Winfield of Stratford, West Haven, and New Haven, CT. He was the loving father to Margaret M. Winfield (Louise), Anne W. (Peter) Dube, Julia W. (Joseph) Weber, Ronald J. (Robin) Winfield, and Mary Frances (John) Trapletti. Ron leaves behind his sister J. Elaine Arena of Orange, CT and his brother Francis E. Winfield of San Marcos, CA. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas W. and David V. Winfield and his sister Jane P. Danaher. Ron also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Brian and Matthew Winfield, Catherine Dube, Taylor Loughlin, William Weber, Molly Trapletti, plus great grandchild Reagan Winfield. Ron received a B.S. Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State Teacher’s College and a M.S. and 6th year Certificate in Administration and Supervision from the University of Bridgeport. He also served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division. Thereafter, Ron was a teacher and administrator for 35-years in the West Haven School System retiring in 1992. Civically active, Ron was a member of the Milford Board of Education, Chairman of the Milford Civil Service Commission, Secretary and life member of the West Haven Elks, member of the Local Draft Board #9, communicant and usher at St. Agnes Church, Milford, and member of the Board of Trustees, West Haven Twilight League. Ron greatly loved his wife, children, and family. He enjoyed sports, politics, current events and especially helping others. He was a great guy and great wit. The family thanks VITAS and Staff for their compassionate care. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church, Milford, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery.
