Shirley R. Davenport, 95, of Milford, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020. Born on November 16, 1924 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Shirley Schlieman.
Shirley was foremost a mother, her favorite job. She went on to nurture not only her grandchildren but her great grandchildren as well. Shirley was proud to have started the first blood bank in East Norwich, Long Island which is still in existence today. She was also a very active member of the Women’s Club of Weston, CT. Shirley spent 30 years as a travel agent and enjoyed seeing the world. Her presence will be missed but never forgotten.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Sue Ann LeoGrande, James (Alison) Davenport, Linda (Roger) Dow, John (Diane) Davenport, Karen (James) Buturla, and Lauren (David) Wilke; cherished grandchildren, Donald (Tina), Jacquelyn (Steven), Ryan (Katherine), Daniel (Marie), Blake (Melissa), Devon (Devin), Shawn (Katie), Adam, Mary (Adam), Caitlyn (Aaron), Tynan (Katherine), Kara, Bryn (Erich), and Ian; and adoring great grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Andrew, Elizabeth, William, Daniel, Ava, Ciara, Sinead, Nicholas, Eva, Connor, Robbie, and Beatrice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church, 25 Broadway, Milford. Family and friends may join us at 9:15 a.m. that morning at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford or may meet us directly at the church. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford.
