Shirley R. Walters Gladue

Shirley R. Walters Gladue, 86, of West Haven, beloved wife of the late Arthur John Gladue, Sr., passed away on July 16, 2021. Shirley was born on February 16, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Harry and Margaret Walters.

Shirley worked for many years at Aliabal Manufacturing in Milford, CT as a machine operator and assembler until her retirement.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother- known as “Nana”. She was a kind person with the biggest heart and she enjoyed playing mom to everyone. Anyone who knew Shirley loved her dearly and she touched everyone. She had a love for country music, especially George Jones and Hank Williams. Shirley also had a passion for karaoke, singing, dancing, and a love for houseplants.

Shirley is survived by her five daughters, Mary Gladue of West Haven, Sharon (Mike) Sheftz of West Haven, Catherine Gladue of Milford, Debra (Ronald) Roman of West Haven, and Diane Gladue of West Haven; her 20 grandchildren; her 16 great grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Ignagowski; her brothers, Walter Donald Edwards, William Walters, and Raymond Walters; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Arthur John Gladue, Sr., Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Susan Gladue; and her sons, Arthur John Gladue, Jr., and Richard Robert Gladue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. 

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at St. Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT.
