Silio Costantini, 96, of Milford, beloved husband of Gaetana Violante Costantini, passed away on September 10, 2023. Born on March 30, 1927 in Porto Santo Stefano, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Angelina Costantini. Silio was a veteran of the Italian Navy and became a skilled stone mason/brick layer building his first house on his father's vineyard in Italy. He came to America, settled in Tarrytown, NY, married Gaetana, joined Bricklayers Local 27 and raised his three boys.
In his later years, Silio and his wife settled in Milford, CT where he enjoyed his retirement fishing, gardening, painting, cooking and entertaining his seven grandchildren with his silly crazy antics. It gave him great pride and enjoyment watching his three sons play soccer on the same team, and was always a constant on the sidelines until they were well into their sixties.
In the last almost two years, Silio and his treasured forty year old lemon tree, settled at Wesley Heights in Shelton, CT where he lived life to the fullest, making tons of friends, and emerging himself into all the activities they had to offer while frequently visiting with his great grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Silio is survived by his sons, Joseph Costantini, Angelo (Jane) Costantini, and Louis (Darlene) Costantini; grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Iacuone, Amanda (Edward) Larsen, Steven (Macie) Costantini, Julia (Michael) Raccio, Adam Costantini, Lindsay Costantini, and Lily Costantini; great grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, Jaxson, Zoey, Presley, Lucas, and one more on the way; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Livio, Caterina, Emilio, and Alfiero.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and caring staff at Wesley Heights at Wesley Village, Shelton, for their compassionate care of Silio and Gaetana.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Church(Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Parish), 212 Elizabeth St., Derby, CT 06418 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Heights at Wesley Village.
