Stanley W. Stanford

Stanley Walter Stanford, 94, of Milford, beloved husband of 67 years to Greta (Linz) Stanford, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020. Born on May 22, 1926 in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Gregory F. Stanford and Lillian (Horne) Stanford.

“Red” graduated from New Haven High School (Hillhouse High) in 1944 and enlisted in the Air Force. He served through the end of World War II as an aircraft mechanic. Stan was a long-time electrical assembler of US Motors Emerson Electric of Milford and culminated his career at United Technologies Sikorsky in Stratford Connecticut. He was the leader of several West Haven Boy Scout troops. “Red” served the Roman Catholic Church and parishioners as a Eucharistic minister. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and many sports, especially golf and billiards. He enjoyed skiing with his family. Stan and Greta traveled throughout Europe and cruised. Lately, he enjoyed visiting the Irish American Community Center of East Haven. In addition to his beloved wife, Greta, Stanley is survived by his son Gregory D. Stanford, daughter-in-law Tami Stanford, and three grandchildren, Taylor Stanford, Hunter Stanford, and Trinity Stanford. A

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 4 at 10:00 AM at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). This church service will be limited to 50 people due to the virus. This will be directly followed by the burial service at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave. West Haven, CT. Interment will be private. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2020 at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Due to gathering restrictions, only 25 people will be allowed inside at a time. Masks and social distancing will be required.
