Stephen Janes

Stephen Janes, 67, of Stratford, passed away on February 4, 2023. Born on May 28, 1955 in Milford, CT he was the son of the late James and Mary Janes.

Stephen is at peace now and no longer suffers from the numerous medical conditions he endured throughout his life. He graduated from Milford High School. He enjoyed going to the VFW with his father, trips to CA to visit his sister, Barbara, and going to Las Vegas. Steve loved being with his brothers and sisters during picnics, holidays and special occasions. In his later years, he lived semi-independently on a farm in New Hampshire. He enjoyed raising chickens and especially loved the rescue horses that were housed in the barn, and his faithful dog, Dexter. When it became too difficult to live independently, he found relief residing at the McCoy Home, an assisted living facility. He no longer had responsibilities of overseeing the farm and was very comfortable in his private room, sitting in his favorite recliner, watching his collection of John Wayne movies. His last couple of years were spent at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home. The family would like to thank Liz (Head Nurse), Colleen (Social Worker), and Gladys (CNA), who gave extraordinary care and compassion to him on a daily basis. Steve will always have a special place in his loved ones’ hearts and find comfort in knowing he is safe in the arms of the Lord.

Stephen is survived by his siblings, Robert (Janet) Janes, Vicki (Harvey) Nelson, and Richard (Theresa) Janes; and by his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his siblings, James Janes, Jr., Barbara DeVito-Angelo, and Terrance Janes.

Friends and family may call from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. A Memorial Service will take place at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at King’s Highway Cemetery 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
