Viva I. Wilson

Viva Wilson, age 88, of Elmira Heights, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout her illness, she continued to be very pleasant and touched the lives of many others. Born on July 21, 1929 in Bar Harbor, Maine, she was one of seven children born to Alfred E Rodick and Viola Staples Rodick. She was predeceased by her husband, Merwin R Wilson in 1994, and also by siblings Ruth Keyes, Benjamin Rodick, Jeanette Lanzillo, and Alfred E Rodick, Jr. Viva is survived by her children, Charles Wilson of Willington, CT, Marilyn Culver of Trumbull, CT, Barbara (Richard) Curtis of Elmira Heights, NY; grandchildren Richard (Jennifer) Culver of Trumbull, CT, Sarah (Jonathan) Davis of Woodbridge, CT, Daniel Curtis of Elmira Heights, NY, Heather Wilson of Albany, NY and Becky (Daniel) Chappell of Horseheads, NY; three great grandchildren, Hannah and Owen Culver, and Natalie Chappell; sisters, Frances Gray of Bar Harbor, ME, Mary McFarland of Ellsworth, ME, and many nieces and nephews. Most of her life she lived in Milford, CT, where she worked for many years at Pond Point Skilled Nursing Facility, first as an LPN and later she received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Bridgeport, retiring in 1995. After retirement, she was an active member of the Milford Senior Center, where she enjoyed line dancing, painting, and going on bus trips.
Calling hours will be held at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 12:30 PM, with a service at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT.
