Walter Frank Art, Jr., 83, of Milford, beloved husband of 57 years to Marilyn “Lynn” Art, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.  Born on January 5, 1935 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Walter Frank, Sr. and Margaret Peddle Art.

Walter grew up in Fairfield, and was a 1952 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School.  Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Upon leaving the military, Walter was a hardworking and dedicated employee of the United Illuminating Company for 40 years.  His passions included golfing, crabbing, clamming, and spending time at the shore.  A true outdoorsman, he was always happiest with the sun on his face.  Walter had always been interested in sports, whether he was involved in coaching his kids’ teams, or an avid fan watching the UCONN Women’s Basketball team and the Boston Red Sox.  His family and friends, however, always came first and his presence will be missed, but never forgotten.

Along with his loving wife, Walter is survived by his children, Deborah, Walter “Sandy” (Pamela), Richard (Kelly Elliott), and Kenneth Art; grandchildren, Audrey Art-Leonard, Lars, Jagger, Austin, Daniel, and Nicholas Art; siblings, Lawrence (Lorraine) Art of South Dartmouth, MA, and Elaine (John) Collins of New York City, NY; sister-in-law, Kathleen Kisco of West Haven, CT; a niece and four nephews, and many extended family and friends.  Walter was predeceased by his grandson, Donald James “DJ” Art.
