William J. Griffin, 77, of Milford, beloved husband of Joan Olson Griffin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at West River Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 17, 1940 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Hector and Edith Radel Griffin.

Bill grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School and the apprentice program at General Electric Co. Bill retired from General Electric in 1997 after 36 years.  He was a parishioner of St. Gabriel Church and served as an usher, was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and the Milford Striped Bass Club.  Bill enjoyed fishing, boating, clamming and summers at Rangeley, Maine.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan, of 55 years; his sons, William Griffin (Patricia), Shawn Griffin (Pamela); his grandsons, Ryan and Samuel Griffin; granddaughter, Katelyn Griffin; step grandsons, Kevin Garrick (Carey Allen) and Justin Telesha (Amanda); great granddaughters, Madison Garrick and Paisley Mae Telesha; sister-in-law, Jayne Mather Griffin and niece Heidi Brewer (Peter) of Belize; great nephew, Travis Gahran; and special cousin, Robert Griffin, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Griffin and his nephew Matthew Griffin. The family would like to thank the staff at West River Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and exceptional care, especially Jennifer, Sherry, Tatiana and Kristin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00AM at St. Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Friends and family may call on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00PM at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT.  Contributions may be made to Milford Hospital Foundation, 300 Seaside Avenue, Milford, CT 06460.
