We grew up in the "Highlands in Holyoke" and played all kinds games and sports together and went to school all the way to high school. He was great friend and one of the most intelligent people that I have ever known. Rest In Peace John.

To John's precious children...I have had the honor of working with John on personal matters...union matters for 1199...as well as the board for training and upgrading with 1199 . John...a loyal, compassionate, devoted, brilliant, caring man of his family and friends. I will always remember his quick wit. He was always excited when speaking of his children...their adventures, their progress, their accomplishments, and his love for them ...no matter what. He was such a humble gracious winner...except the fight we had with Rowland...he always knew what he was doing and confidently DID! To Lisa, Kevin Michael , and Jess and all...there is not enough room to speak of your daM d/grandfather and all of his accomplishments and how special he was. He will truly be missed! Love to you all! His legacy has been left behind for all to remember!

With great sadness and heavy heart, in hearing the passing of John Creane. I worked with John for over 26 years with the New England Health Care Employees Union District 1199. John was a seasoned attorney for which the Fund has relied on for many years. It was through his counsel that guided us to achieve much success. His expertise will be missed. John was a humble gentleman, and dear friend, I'm blessed and honored to have known him as well I did. My deepest sympathy and prayers to his family.

As a friend and former colleague of John Creane's daughter, Dr. Lisa Hayden, all I can say is that I am sorry I never met this wonderful man but I'll bet he was a lot like his daughter; brilliant, devoted, compassionate, loyal, and am left thinking I sorely wish I had known him!
So very sorry for the emptiness his family feels with his passing but I trust that he has filled them with goodness that will sustain for generations!
Rest in peace sir; your work on earth was a job well done!

I am a friend of John's son Mike and have been visiting their house since the early 2000's. During that time I had the pleasure of having some great laughs and conversations with Mr. Creane. Usually when you are a kid in your early 20's and hanging out with your friend the last thing you want to do is go hang out with the "grown ups". That was not the case with Mr. Creane, I always enjoyed going upstairs to find him watching the news, reading a book, or trying to figure out the new crazy piece of technology Mike had convinced him he needed to get. I'm sure Mr. Creane had very little desire to watch the news in 3D with full surround sound but I think he very much enjoyed sharing in the passion Mike has for technology. Mr. Creane would always greet you with a smile and was always up for a good conversation or to just chit chat and joke around. He had a great dry sense of humor and a contagious passion for what was going on in the world. So much so that it made you want to discuss current events to get his take on them and have a laugh while you were at it. I am truly very sorry to hear of his passing and send my deepest condolences to Mr. Creanes family, friends and loved ones. May he rest in peace.

The Creanes and the Sullivans were close growing up in Holyoke.. Bill was my classmate at Holyoke High, while Fran remains one of my closest friends. John was five years younger, but I remember him as a really nice guy. Except when we played cards. Or pickky (our tennis ball version of baseball played daily in the summer, weather permitting, and often when not permitting). Like all the Creanes, he was smart. Fortunately, after 50 something years of no contact, we were able to reconnect on a number of occasions when we both visited Fran in Gilford. Sorry I won't see him again. Sorrier for the family. It's a great loss.

I am a long time member of 1199 at the Institute of Living. If it wasn't for John's masterful legal ability and perseverance we would not have a Union.. In 1994 Hartford Hospital took over the Institute of Living. The Hospital refused to recognize our Union. There ensued a legal battle that went on for over three years. John won at every level. First, at the NRLB, followed by winning in Federal Court, as well as in the Federal Appeals Court. The Hospital gave up the fight as the case was heading to the Supreme Court. Countless people's lives are the better for his standing with us through those years.
On behalf of the members of 1199 at the Institute of Living I want to extend our sympathy for your loss.
He will be remembered here.

To the Family, My sincere Condolences to you on the passing of John. He was in my class at Holyoke High School and we graduated in the same year. He was in College and I in Nursing School after that and saw him at a Reunion once or twice. I remember him as a very good fellow! Friendly, funny and liked by many because of his great personality! I know he will be missed by All that loved him and with good reason. Nice to realize he had a fruitful life and a successful career. I will remember him and his family in my prayers.
