Maria D. Rosario, 83, of Milford, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2017. Born Maria do Carmo Rodrigues on October 11, 1934, in Ponta do Pargo, Madeira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Madalena Rodrigues. Known by many as Marie, she arrived in the U.S. in 1949, lived in Fairfield, then Taunton, MA, before moving to Milford in 1965. She was one of the first Lunch Aides at Point Beach School in the 1970’s, then went on to Pond Point Convalescent Home as a Nurse’s Aide until her retirement. She was a proud member of Local 1199. Marie moved to Orange City, FL in 1992 and loved living there. She liked gardening, gambling, and traveling. She was a gifted story-teller and enjoyed a good laugh, putting a smile on the faces of everyone she met. Maria is survived by her sons, Armando Pereira (Lisa Riley), Michael (Jenna) Rosario; grandchildren, Zena (Dave) Pereira and Shane Rosario; brothers, John (Pat) Rodrigues and Peter (Kathy) Rodrigues; sister, Rosie Rodrigues; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria was predeceased by her husband, Manny Rosario, her brothers, George and Isaac Rodrigues and her longtime companion, Leo Hunsberger. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook of Granby for their kind and compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private. Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
